Oh no, Oprah picked this book! It's been ages since I've read it, but I vaguely recall it was enjoyable. Never has stonemasonry & cathedral construction been so fascinating.
Not sure what led me to read it (bookslut.com maybe?) but it was quite enjoyable. I can easily imagine it becoming a charming motion picture.
I was keenly reminded upon finishing this book that I should have remembered my vow to never read Terry Goodkind ever again.
Interesting book. Alas, but for the horrible dialogue, flat characters, and lugubrious expository bits, it would've been enjoyable.
The sentences are certainly well constructed. Unfortunately, the narrative generated as a result is not.
